I’ve loved graphic tees since I was a kid. But as an adult, I couldn't find ones that spoke to my interests. That's why I started SmashGrrrl.
As a professional boat captain and lover of all things adventure, I see so many women defying outdated social norms — pursuing their interests for the expression of who they are. Yet so many graphics for us are still either sexualized or about proving ourselves (think "Ride Like a Girl" or "Try to Keep Up Boys").
I began SmashGrrrl to create gear that matches the grit, boldness, and authentic energy of the women who inspire me — climbers, dirt bikers, sailors, scientists, skaters, makers and more.
What began as filling a gap in cool graphics for women has become something much bigger: a way to shift culture toward one that inspires, celebrates, and normalizes our non-traditional pursuits.
The deeper I go the more I learn about the quiet but dramatic cultural shifts already taking place everywhere women are, as well as the barriers to entry that still exist.
I'm more convicted than ever of the need for a global, mainstream movement that recognizes women's interest, contributions and skill in these fields.
You're an integral part! Thanks for being here for it.
🖤 Michelle
