By carving their own unconventional paths they cut through the noise, redefining what female interests are and inspiring others to do the same.
"Smash" is all about breaking barriers—gender norms, glass ceilings, and outdated expectations. "Grrrl" is a nod to the Riot Grrrl punk movement, where women rebelled against the male-dominated music scene, fiercely rewrote the rules, and built their own pro-female culture. Together, it’s a name that perfectly captures the SmashGrrrl spirit — one in which women and girls unapologetically claim their space and pursure their interests.
Because women are already changing the culture on what female interests are. But we still have little visibility or representation in these fields. Wearable graphics acts as a beacon of identity and a badge of belonging to spaces that weren't built for us, but in which we're participating in growing numbers.
Increasing our visibility normalizes our presence there, and opens the door for others to step in.
